Priority.....not!!

I met someone who has type 2 diabetes yesterday (taking both insulin and metformin). I always talk about priority being a key element of managing diabetes but this story "takes the cake" in making everything else in life priority except for her diabetes. This person has been having very high blood sugar readings (over 300) and has not been able to lose weight. We come to find out that she was sick with a cold two weeks ago so since she was taking over the counter cold medicine she felt she should stop her diabetes meds. This combination is like walking on a tight rope...being sick with any infection and not taking your medications will absolutely, without a doubt, make your blood sugar readings elevate. I stressed to her to take her meds as her doctor has prescribed (an absolute) and if she has any questions about mixing a cold medicine with insulin or metformin, she should call her doctor and ask. A second part to this story is that this person is not exercising and doesn't plan on it. She says she would have to quit her job in order to exercise. How many of you or how many people do you know who are able to fit in exercise when working not only one job but possibly three jobs? I know several, or rather many, people who are working several jobs but still make it a priority to their health to find time to exercise (myself included).I met someone who has type 2 diabetes yesterday (taking both insulin and metformin).
